DEPUTY DIRECTOR
Denisse is a researcher interested in the societal impact of technology, particularly on marginalised communities. Using justice and community-centred methodologies, she has co-designed programs with diverse groups, including scientists, artists, and activists, to mitigate online harms and advance the safe and equitable use of technology.
Before joining The Engine Room, she led and supported research at the Royal Society, Tactical Tech, Hiperderecho and the Centre for Internet and Society. Denisse is also a fellow at the Knowledge Equity Lab at the University of Toronto and serves on the Advisory Board of the Open Research Community Accelerator (ORCA). In her spare time, she enjoys planning trips to try new food or to explore the nearest mountain or beach.
Denisse is a Deputy Director at The Engine Room, where she guides the design and stewardship of our community-centred, resilient, and responsible research approach. Formerly our Associate for Community-Centred Research Design and Leadership, Denisse ensures that our work remains grounded in the needs and realities of the communities we serve.
