From now until late August, we will collaborate with the German Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to develop responsible data guidelines that will help GIZ field staff better advise partners on the potential harms and ethical challenges that arise when working with data.
Our new report outlines the ways biometrics are being used in the humanitarian sector, and reviews the context in which Oxfam is deciding whether (and how) to integrate biometrics into its programmes.

In advance of the Responsible Data Forum on Open Source Investigation for Human Rights, to be held in partnership with Meedan at the Stockholm Internet Forum on Tuesday, May 16, we compiled a list of resources that can help human rights researchers respond to responsible data challenges when using open source data.
To get an understanding of this, we carried out interviews with Oxfam staff and reviewed of responsible data resources created by Oxfam, many of which have been put online and made available to others to use.
